I’m sure you’re not done exploring marketing ideas that work for your wine business strategy (winery business, wine import company etc.). So I’ll tell you a little secret: “Don’t try to imitate other wine firms.”
Why?
Because, if you want to stand out, you won’t find any innovations or inspirations there. Applying your competitors’ ideas to your own isn’t an innovation, however, it may be an important step if you’re convinced they’ll work for you. Read this article to discover where to find genuine inspiration for building an exciting brand.
Step 1
Recognize your business needs by asking the right questions
The following are some questions you should ask yourself:
- Why do you require innovation?
- What is the explanation for this?
- Is it a need that comes from inside or outside?
- Do you feel compelled to do so, or do you believe you require one?
- What will you accomplish by adapting them?
Step 2
Look different, discover patterns
Think out of the box, explore outside field, and pay attention to companies like outstanding startups, popular fashion brands, and cosmetic firms if you do want real innovation in your business.
Follow:
- Kellogg’s
- Elon Musk
- Space X
- Richard Branson
- Apple
- Patagonia
- Tesla
- Peloton
- and many more brilliant companies
Seriously!
Firms mentioned above invest a significant amount of money in marketing, design, and communication, as well as in smart individuals who can figure out how to get to the top. All of the suggested industry sectors are reacting to the most recent trends, movements, client behaviours, and needs. It’s not about following fast fashion trends. Fashion, technology, and cosmetics companies can indeed offer much more than just a product. Today it is:
- responsibility
- sustainability
- education
- environmentalism
- a unique experience
Smart companies are actively engaged in spreading higher values. We may get the sense that they are not concerned about money. The truth is that they are, and they make a huge profit as a result.
Step 3
How is this possible to make money by avoiding direct sales?
They aren’t making more money by direct selling! They did research and are actively seeking solutions that address the needs of customers. Today’s new generation client has a significant impact on how businesses are done. Take a look at what’s going on right now in Ukraine, where Russia in February 2022 has started a war.
Everyone who cares must communicate their concern. Companies like:
- Space X
- Apple
- Balenciaga
- Ford
- Motorolla
- Nokia
- and many more great brands
Step 4
Examples of places you can find inspirations for your wine business
Great innovators apply ideas from fields other than their own. This phrase comes from Carmine Gallo’s book Talk like TED. Apple product inspired by Ritz-Carlton? It was indeed a very succesful cooperation.
You may still be wondering how to keep track of and identify these trends. Vogue magazine is one of my great sources. They even have a phrase that goes, “Before it’s in fashion, it’s in Vogue.” This has nothing to do with wine, but I find new leads there, which I start to follow or begin some research. Vogue is interested in trends and changes, and they are not scared to write about unusual events or to portray them. I read Vogue on a regular basis. My advice: subscribe website you like, read the articles, observe commercials, and my favourite part is to sponsored articles!
Step 5
Action plan for inspiration digging
Yo may start n right now!
Simply pick one brand or a person from the above list. Pay attention to what they’re doing. Try to decipher the pattern by subscribing to their newsletter. When you see how well it works, you’ll start to question if any or all of it could work for your company. Style of communication, ideas for launching, good practices, social media management, how they show and talk about premium products, do they use the word premium? Scale it to your possibilities and observe what happens.
